Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup done specifically on the eyebrows. It is performed by manually depositing pigment into the second layer of the skin with the use of a disposable, handheld tool containing sterile needles. Each microblading stroke is applied individually and blended in with the client’s existing brow hair to create fuller, more defined eyebrows. Microblading is perfect for those with uneven, thinning, overplucked, or sparse eyebrows.
Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years and naturally fades over time. A touch up is recommended every 12-18 months to maintain the look and keep the hair strokes looking fresh. Clients with oily skin may need more frequent touch ups, as pigment in oily skin tends to fade quicker. Results vary from person to person and depend on your age, skin type, aftercare, health, skincare routine, and lifestyle. Certain medications can affect the healed results as well. Everyone will respond to the procedure differently and results cannot be guaranteed.
Microblading requires a minimum of two appointments. At the second session (6-8 weeks following your initial appointment), we will assess the color, re-evaluate how your skin is reacting to the pigment, and make any necessary changes. Additional touch ups may be necessary for clients with oily skin, problematic skin, darker pigmentation, or for those who did not follow proper aftercare instructions. Microblading is a process and your final results won't be reached until after your second session. Annual touch ups are recommended to keep the color looking vibrant and the strokes looking crisp.
Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for microblading. If you have very oily skin, large pores, or dark pigmentation, then you may require additional touch ups in order to get your desired look. If you tan/sunbathe, get frequent facials, or workout a lot, then microblading might not be the best option for you. You can find a list of other contraindications here.
Your brows will appear larger and darker for the first 2-3 days and then will begin to flake and peel. The healing time is typically 10-14 days, but everyone is different so individual results may vary. After 1-2 weeks, your brows may look blurred, uneven, grey, or like they have disappeared. Be patient, you will not see the true results until 6-8 weeks post procedure.
Every person responds to pain differently but most people feel little to no discomfort. Two topical anesthetics are used -- one that is applied before the procedure starts and another that is used throughout the session to make it as pain-free as possible.
At the beginning of your appointment, we will discuss how you want your new brows to look and address any concerns you may have. I will take measurements and come up with a design that best suits your face shape and bone structure. Once we agree on a shape, we will decide on a color together based on your natural hair color and the undertone of your skin.
Previously tattooed/microbladed brows are dealt with on a case by case basis. A picture MUST be emailed to me before booking for approval.
